Let me tell you something that I'm sure you have probably heard before in this type of journey. You will not be perfect. It's hard to hear, right? It was for me anyway. I came from a mindset that the only way to succeed was to have A+s and vacuum lines on the carpet. (NOT a bad thing by the way, but unrealistic OCD perfectionism is hard to adjust with this mindset) But it's the truth. And it has taken me several years to figure this out and constantly work on it every day.
So why is this so important? It is important to know because as your coach it is my job to support you through the inevitable imperfections. It is my job to let you know that it is okay to be imperfect, to embrace the journey, and to celebrate your triumphs. It is because there is always the next meal to do better, the next day to do the workout, the next time can be better. YOU decide and dictate the next steps. It doesn't have to be a thousand steps backwards before leaping forwards again. And it's my job to give you the best tools and support to reach your goals. For many years I struggled with consistency in my journey and that led me to believe that I was a failure. I started over so many times because I felt defeated that I wasn't perfect in my routine and in my mindset and that made me unsuccessful. I didn't workout today...whoop I'm done. I didn't stay under 1200 (which, by the way was NEVER an actual reasonable or healthy goal)...failed. What I didn't know was that I will NEVER be perfect. I will never workout every single day. I will never eat exactly what I should ever single day. And that's OK. It's called....wait for it.....balance. Sound the trumpets! You can still have results and be a real person in a balanced and healthy lifestyle! My weekly goals are simple: 1. to workout at least 5 days a week, 2. eat clean 80% - 90% of the time, and 3. drink my Shakeology every day I have other business and house goals also, to talk about another day, but these are super crucial for me in my health and fitness journey. 1. I tell you this because ....first, I want you to know that I'm not a fitness robot that exercises every single day. It's not realistic, your body needs recovery, and ... most importantly.... I don't want to! haha. I have three rules: 1. I keep track of any workouts I miss and don't make up that week (I add them to the end of the program and complete them then). 2. I don't like going three days without a workout...It just takes me out of my groove 3. When I don't feel like working out, I post it in my groups and promise that I will do it for accountability. Then I post a sweaty selfie when I'm done. This prevents me from not honoring #1 and #2 and it keeps me accountable to my tribe. I have struggles with unnecessary excuses and procrastination and laziness that, if I don't keep it in check, will get carried out of control. 2. I also work hard to eat clean 80% - 90% of the time. If you really think about it, I eat 5-6 small meals a day. Breakfast, AM snack, lunch, PM snack, dinner, and sometimes a snack after dinner. I typically follow the 21 Day Fix eating guide as closely as I can and I do this by prepping and planning for my meals at work specifically. This eating guide ensures I am eating the right portions of each food group and not crazily overeating on others. Again this helps me keep my portions and food groups in check. Now in these 6 meals a day, that is 42 meals a week. 80% of that is 8 meals and 90% is 4 meals that I can be lenient. To me, 8 is too many 'cheating' opportunities so I stick closer to the 4. Now this doesn't mean I go all crazy and completely go off the wall in that meal. It means I may have cheese on my turkey burger and a small slice of avocado. I may have a few dark chocolate chips with my apple and peanut butter after dinner. Hint: I may also have a little 'too much' peanut butter...if there is such a thing. 3. Now the ONE thing that I will be perfect about, every day, is drink my Shakeology. Why? 1. It's my healthiest meal of the day with over 70 natural superfoods. 2. It fuels my workouts and energy for my day. 3. It's so easy I almost don't even have to think about it. It's my PM snack with a banana. The End. It's so yummy and good for me that I can't imagine not consuming it every day. I love the cafe latte and chocolate flavors and out of the bazillion + 1 ways to blend it...it's really limitless in possibilities. My job is to be here for you and to help you focus on becoming the best version of you that you can possibly be. My best version of me helps serve you to become the best version of you.
